Chaya Brasserie restaurant, owned by Yuji Tsunoda, opened at 132 Embarcadero in San Francisco in February 2000. Chaya Brasserie has seating for 170 and features a sushi bar and delightful Japanese and French cuisine. The hours at Chaya Brasserie for lunch are Monday through Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for dinner and the sushi bar, the hours are Monday through Wednesday, 5:30 to 10:00 p.m.; Thursday through Saturday, 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Sunday, 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Happy hour at the Chaya Brasserie is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The bar and lounge area at Chaya Brasserie is informal, with bamboo ceilings, leather chairs, and a 21-foot zinc bar. The north dining room, with black and white artwork from the Tsunoda private collection and girders reminiscent of the Golden Gate Bridge, has a wonderful atmosphere and a spectacular view of the Bay. A less formal dining room in the Chaya Brasserie has colorful artwork and a lively atmosphere.

There are numerous specialties and selections to choose from at Chaya Brasserie including Ricotta Cheese Gnocchi with mushrooms, poached king salmon, grilled tuna, and sushi sampler platters. The Chaya Brasserie has marvelous dinner entrees, as well, such as sea bass, Maine lobster, Black Angus rib-eye steak, and Filet Mignon with Fois Gras. In addition, there is a wide assortment of delicious desserts, including chocolate cake, cheesecake, sorbets, brulees, and ice cream.
The Chaya Brasserie has superb service and excellent dining. It is a popular gathering place, a “teahouse,” for residents and visitors alike to the Bay area. |
