Ride The Cable Cars Like A Local

If you are visiting the Fisherman's Wharf area of San Francisco you'll probably want to try riding the Cable Cars. The only problem is that it takes forever to wait in line until your car is ready. I'm not kidding, on Fisherman's Wharf you must line up and wait for the car to not only arrive but be manually turned around by several employees. Then tickets and cash must be collected before your cable car ride begins. The locals don't wait in line on Fisherman's Wharf they go up a block or two and wait by one of the many brown cable car stop signs along the route from Fisherman's Wharf to Union Square. Simply show up along the route with your money ready and get on the cable car. Later someone may or may not collect your money for the ride but at least you won't wait in line.  Keep in mind that Cable Cars in San Francisco run at 9 mph and stop frequently.  You can always run after the cable cars or to the next cable car stop and get to Union Square or Fishermans Wharf whatever your San Francisco cable car stop.
