The Stinking Rose Garlic Restaurant San Francisco California 325 Columbus Ave The Stinking Rose is a garlic lovers must visit if you are vacationing in San Francisco. This is a restaurant that centers its food around the concept of adding garlic to EVERYTHING. Unfortunately what might pass for heavy garlic to others seemed quite mild to us. For this vacation we were headed to the Garlic Festival in Gilroy and figured the Stinking Rose would be a great primer. The food was very good and the atmosphere very nice. The highlight was the appetizer called Bagna Calda which is basically olive oil and garlic that you dip the house bread in. Delicious! Located on the edge of a seedy part of town we didn't worry at all about walking around the block from where we parked our car. The staff was attentive and they had a nice wine list. Overall it was a great stop on the trip , if you like Garlic but don't want it overdone I'd recommend this one. If your expecting outrageous amounts of garlic on everything your better off cooking for yourself. |
