AT&T Park San Francisco
AT&T Park, the home of the San Francisco Giants, is located at 24 Willy Mays Plaza. Formerly SBC Park, AT&T Park is a huge stadium, covering 13 acres, bounded by King, 2nd, and 3rd Streets, and China Basin. There is easy access to AT&T Park from the Bay Bridge, Highways 101, and 102, and other throughways such as Third Street and the Embarcadero. AT&T Park is within walking distance from downtown and many of the city neighborhoods; however, streetcars, buses, trains, and ferries are readily available. Some parking is provided, but fans are encouraged to use public transportation.
At AT&T Park the first regular season game, between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers, was played on April 11, 2000. AT&T Park has a seating capacity of over 41,000, which includes 68 luxury suites and 5,200 club seats. These seats have their own club and concourse, waiter service, and a concession. Furthermore, there are 1,500 field seats at ground level and additional standing room for 1,500 at AT&T Park.
There are many amenities at AT&T Park, including disability access, numerous food and retail outlets, bathrooms, telephones, and wide walkways. A unique feature at AT&T Park is a public promenade, built along the waterfront between right and center field, where fans can watch the game through the fence free of charge and San Franciscans have year-round access to the Bay. In addition, there are Portuguese water dogs to fetch home runs and a kid’s playground. AT&T Park is indeed a remarkable stadium, one that attracts thousands of fans each year.
