Sutro Baths 1090 Point Lobos San Francisco California
Sutro Baths in San Francisco are located along the coastline north of the Cliff House Restaurant. The Sutro Baths were an amusement built by the former San Francisco Mayor Adolph Sutro who was a millionaire and philanthropist. The Sutro Baths, modeled on the baths of ancient Rome, included a fresh water pool, five heated saltwater pools, huge ocean temperature saltwater pool, restaurants, art galleries, and more under a huge glass dome. Dwindling attendance led to the Sutro Baths closure in 1954, and the building was destroyed by fire in the ‘60s. All that remains of Sutro Baths are Roman-style ruins.
